Summer term Week 3

Weekly Maths Tasks

Please click on the link below to access this week's daily maths activities. This week is further work on angles with some protractor use, as well as new learning on opposite angles.
(Please ensure you click on the Summer Term Week 1 (w/c 20 April) activity)
PLEASE NOTE: QUESTION 1 ON BOTH DAY 1 AND DAY 2 REQUIRES A PROTRACTOR - IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE AT HOME, LOOK AT THE ANSWERS TO HELP YOU GRASP THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OPPOSITE ANGLES. TRY TO DO ALL OF THE OTHER QUESTIONS AS A PROTRACTOR IS NOT NEEDED FOR THESE. REMEMBER IF IT SAYS 'WORK OUT' YOU CALCULATE AND NOT MEASURE!

Maths facts: Remember to practise your times tables on TT Rockstars - I would love to post more names for this on the blog this week! Also work on other maths facts such as number bonds on Hit the Button.

Weekly English Tasks (plus daily reading)

Writing Task  Here is a reminder of the link for your two week writing task. I hope you are enjoying this challenge.  Remember to take time to check that each activity is done to the best of your ability before moving on to the next one. There is absolutely no rush as you have one more week to complete this task and produce a quality piece of work. Remember to check vocabulary, grammar, spelling and punctuation at each step. Good luck!

Reading comprehension: choose the activity most suitable to you
(★ Easier ★★ Middle  ★★★ More challenging)
VE Day

Spellings: Statutory word list for Years 5 and 6
Continue your personal challenge in learning to spell all of the words on this list (if you would prefer to work on some of the words on the Year 3 and 4 list please do so - these spellings should be personal to you). Use some of the strategies worked on in class to help you: pyramid words, drawing an image around the word, drawing boxes around each letter to show the shape, look say cover write check etc. Try rainbow writing: write each letter in a different colour or write the whole word in one colour and overlay this in further colours.

Weekly Wider Curriculum Tasks

History -
To mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day this Friday, we will have a break from our Viking topic this week and explore this subject using the link. On the site there are multiple activity choices to help you learn more about this significant historical event through Historical Enquiry, Art and Design, Design Technology, Music and PSHE.

Computing -
On offer this week, and next, instead of Science, is and invitation for parents to sign up for a FREE TWO WEEK TRIAL to PURPLE MASH - a computing and digital skills on-line space for creative learning.
It is suggested that you work on 2Code, starting at Chimp level, before moving on to Gibbon etc. Working through the program systematically will mean you acquire skills which you will build on as you progress. See how far you can get by committing to a daily session of fun filled creative learning! Send in screen shots or photos - I look forward to posting them here!

PE -
North Yorkshire Sport have organised a weekly virtual sport challenge. Each activity can be a personal challenge or a challenge against others in North Yorkshire. Check out the site and try something different to help you keep active!

Picture News -
Story: The toy world has a new craze – llamas!
Question:   What makes some toys more popular than others?

🌟Mrs Burton's Ongoing Project - Who is your hero?🌟
When I was in primary school I did a project all about my hero. It took me weeks! I learned lots of facts, made a booklet, drew and cut out pictures, and I can still remember facts about Gary Winston Lineker now! So it's your turn, choose someone who you admire, learn all about them, then show what you know in whatever way you want e.g scrapbook, PowerPoint, poster. This should be a project you work on over the next few weeks rather than complete in 1 session.

Thank you to those of you who are emailing some of your work. If you haven't sent anything in yet, I would love to see what you are doing. Please email photos of your efforts to:
